Questions are welcome.

If you are unsure about hypnotherapy, that is completely normal. These answers are here to make the first step feel clearer and less mysterious.

Yes. You stay in control throughout the session. You can speak, move, open your eyes, pause or stop at any point. Hypnotherapy is something we do together, not something done to you.
No. That is stage hypnosis, and stage hypnosis is there for fun. The bit people do not always realise is that stage volunteers are usually pre-selected because they are responsive, playful and willing to go along with the show. Hypnotherapy is different. It happens privately, with a clear purpose, and it is focused on changes you have chosen.
No. Hypnotherapy is not mind control, and it is not stage hypnosis. You cannot be made to do or say something against your will. Honestly, if someone wanted to influence you, they would usually do it while you were wide awake: politicians, salespeople, advertisers and marketers work with attention and suggestion all the time. In hypnotherapy, the work is transparent, agreed and pointed towards the change you came in for.
We usually begin with conversation, so I can understand what has been happening and what you want help with. Then I guide you into a relaxed, absorbed state and use therapeutic work shaped around you. Afterwards we take a little time to settle, reflect and talk about what to notice next.
It depends on the person, the issue and how long the pattern has been running. Some people find a small number of sessions useful. Others benefit from longer work, especially with deeper or long-standing patterns. I will be honest about what seems appropriate, and you are not locked into anything.
Hypnotherapy may help some people work with anxiety by supporting calmer responses and helping old protective patterns shift. It is not a replacement for medical or psychiatric care, and if your situation needs specialist support, that matters.
It can support confidence work by helping with self-doubt, old beliefs, inner criticism and the emotional patterns underneath how you see yourself. Confidence is not something you force. Often it is something you rebuild through safety, self-trust and new evidence.
Not always. Hypnotherapy is not suitable for every person or every situation. During the consultation we can talk about any medical or mental-health history that might matter. If another kind of support seems more appropriate, I will say so.
That is very common. You do not have to arrive calm, confident or perfectly prepared. The first consultation is there to answer questions, explain the process and let you get a feel for whether this is right for you.
I offer in person sessions in Rugby, Warwickshire, and online sessions where appropriate. Online work can be a good option if travelling is difficult or you feel more settled at home.
It is a calm first conversation. You can tell me what has been going on, ask anything you are unsure about, and decide whether you would like to continue. There is no pressure and no obligation.
A Care Note

When urgent or medical support is needed

Hypnotherapy is not a replacement for medical, psychiatric or emergency support. If you are in crisis, at risk of harm, or worried someone else may be at risk, contact emergency services or an appropriate crisis support service.
