Hypnotherapy for Children
Children are wonderful with Hypnotherapy and often respond incredibly well to therapy with amazing results even in one session. This is mainly due to their lack of inhibitions and excellent imagination.
I see children and adolescents for hypnotherapy treatments from about 7-17 years of age. Children under the age of 16 are always accompanied by at least one, preferably both parent or guardian. They are actively encouraged to participate in the session too, and will also benefit from the therapy.
The 'Blowaway' technique
This single session hypnotherapy technique has been especially designed for use with children to help them resolve their anxiety, worry or phobia. The technique, utilising hypnosis, is aimed at removing obstacles to the child/teenager's development, so that the child/teenager will progress to be the best person they possibly can be.
The Blowaway technique is a very gentle type of therapy where during the session, as the child relaxes, they are encouraged to take a deep breath and 'blow away' any negative emotions or 'bottled up' feelings, resulting in a reduction of anxiety or stress within the child.
This may seem very simplistic, but it is the desire of the child to remove the problem, and being in a safe, secure and supportive environment, that allows them to do so.
At no time will the child be asked what they've "blown away", and a firm undertaking is given by the child's parents or guardians not to ask either!
The session ends with relaxation and positive hypnotic suggestions for both the child and adult. It is often a fun, interesting, informal and very liberating experience for both!
